Alumni & Volunteer Educational Programs

CLA Volunteer Training

The Carlson Leadership Academy provides our undergraduate officers and leaders a chance to develop skills, acquire resources, and expand their SigEp network in an effort to push their chapters to the next level.  As members of an Alumni & Volunteer Corporation, you should have the same opportunity.  SigEp volunteers will engage with National Directors, District Governors, higher education professionals, and expert volunteers to develop and hone their skills in undergraduate mentoring, alumni cultivation, and asset management.

Program Highlights
Working with Undergraduate Leaders:  Alumni and volunteers will work with higher education professionals to examine techniques of effective mentoring.  Key points of discussion will be how to inspire, motivate, and hold our undergraduate brothers accountable to their values and goals.

Four-Year Continuous Development:  Whether your undergraduate chapter operates as a pledge model or runs the Balanced Man Program, targeted programming for both freshmen and upperclassmen is essential to recruiting and retaining the best students.  Alumni and volunteers will work with experts in SigEp development programming to establish best practices for implementation and mentoring.

Risk Management Discussion:  Each year at CLA, Saturday’s lunch features a program by an expert in risk management, and each year our volunteers are often left wondering, “How can I prevent something like that from happening at my chapter?”  This year, following Saturday’s lunch, alumni and volunteers will have the opportunity to ask that question and take a deep dive into risk management with our facilitators.

Capstone Presentations: Alumni and volunteers learn the best from other alumni and volunteers.  CLA provides plenty of informal opportunities to make these connections; however, this year we will have some of our best AVCs in the region present on projects and initiatives they have successfully implemented.

Time with the National Board: Alumni and volunteers will have the opportunity for candid conversation with the National Board of Directors.  Directors will answer questions and discuss the Board’s current priorities.
