When should I arrive to the Carlson Leadership Academy (CLA)?
Registration opens at 6:00 pm on Friday evening. All attendees should arrive prior to 8:00 pm which is when the first session begins.
When does CLA end?
Departures should be planned for any time on Sunday.
Does the registration fee include hotel costs?
For undergraduates, the registration fee does not include hotel costs. Please refer to your individual Academy website for information on making hotel reservations.
For Fraternity Officials, your registration fee does include hotel costs. On your registration form, you are provided with two lodging options: (a) the Fraternity will make your hotel room reservation for you and you will be roomed with another Fraternity Official or (b) You can make your own hotel reservation and submit a reimbursement form for half the cost of a standard room, plus applicable taxes, for two nights.
Does the Fraternity pay for my travel costs to the CLA?
All undergraduate chapters and Fraternity Officials are eligible to receive a travel stipend equal to $0.15 per mile, roundtrip. This money can be used to defray any transportation expenses, whether traveling by car, air or train. A reimbursement request must be submitted after the program but within one month of the Academy in order to receive funds. A link to this form will be coming soon.
Is parking available at the hotel?
Yes. Please refer to your individual Academy website for information on parking and fees, if applicable.
Registration
Who may attend CLA?
It is recommended that all undergraduate executive board officers attend along with their chapter counselor. However, any undergraduate member and/or alumnus may attend.
What is included in the price of registration?
Three meals on Saturday as well as all educational materials for the program.
How much does it cost to register?
Five undergraduate officer registrations as well as one volunteer registration have been pre-paid through the chapter’s fall bill. The sixth and seventh undergraduate officers can register for a fee of $95 per man. Additional officers may attend at a cost of $150 per man. Any additional volunteers or any alumnus may attend at a cost of $150 per man.
May I receive a refund if I register for CLA but am unable to attend?
Full refunds are available until two weeks prior to the arrival date. After that point, refunds are not available; however, you may send a replacement for anyone who cannot attend.
When does registration end?
Registration will close one week prior to the Academy arrival date.
I want to attend CLA but I don’t have the funds; what can I do?
Some ideas include asking your Alumni and Volunteer Corporation; check with your University’s Student Affairs Office as many provide funds for leadership development events.
Who is a “Fraternity Official”?
Fraternity Officials include:
Chapter Counselors, District Governors, CLA Faculty, Faculty Fellows, Foundation Trustees, National Board of Directors, National Housing Directors, Resident Scholars and SigEp Staff

What is the appropriate attire for CLA?
Friday evening, you should wear business casual attire. Saturday, a coat and tie is appropriate.
